Welcome to the Nokia Software Updater, a Windows application which you can use to update your device software from your PC. Simply plug in the device to download and start the update.

New features

This release candidate supports Microsoft Windows 7 and improved USB connectivity. This release also includes “What’s New” release notes for the software (only available for some products/languages) to conveniently highlight the improvements and new features for your device.

After you have updated your device software*, please give feedback on the forum.

Any critical improvements needed will be included in the actual release, while smaller items will be fixed in coming releases. We would like to hear especially if you have any problems with the USB connection and which kind of PC hardware you used.

* As with any software update, please be sure to follow the on-screen advice before starting the update process to avoid possible data loss.

Notes about device software versions

This beta release of the Nokia Software Updater will not install any pre-release of Nokia device software. If after installing you get a message "No software updates available”, this means there is no new version of Nokia device software currently available for your specific product. Please note that your mobile service provider, operator or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device software available.

Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have updated Nokia device software. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any delay. New software may become available at a later date, however, so please check back soon. You can check to see if your software is the latest by reading the question "How can I check for new software?"

Feedback will also benefit Nokia Ovi Suite

Nokia Software Updater is standalone device firmware update application, targeted for users who need quick update for device firmware. Feedback received from Nokia Software Updater Beta will also benefit Nokia Ovi Suite users, because improvements will be implemented also into Nokia Ovi Suite.

Nokia Ovi Suite is Nokia’s major desktop all-you-can-do application targeted for end users and now, Nokia Ovi Suite also handles device firmware updates, with many other features, for example contacts, messages, photos and music sync.
Compatibility and system requirements

* Windows XP or Windows Vista (64-bit, Home and Professional) or Windows 7. Other OS (including Mac and Linux running Windows emulators) may work, but are untested.
* Administration rights on the PC while installing
* High-speed internet connection
* Compatible Nokia device with SIM card (and charger if necessary – the update will not start if there is insufficient charge in the battery)
* Compatible Nokia USB connection cable. Use the USB cable that came in the sales package with your Nokia device. If you don't have a cable, you can find a list of the cables that are compatible with your device model in the Nokia website support Accessories section. Note: If prompted, use PC Suite, Normal or Nokia mode.
* Compatible USB port on your PC. Note: Please connect your USB cable directly to the PC, do not use a USB Hub.
